A marriage of two heritages at the 1 Hotel Miami: Mina & Soz
Some couples arrive with a mood board; Mina and Soz arrived with a point of view. Both come from strong family roots (Soz from Greece, Mina from a Persian family), and both live in the language of interior design, the kind with a little edge and spunk. They wanted a wedding that could hold both cultures at once: traditional, but modern, fresh, and unmistakably their own.
They married at 1 Hotel Miami before 150 guests, inside a world built almost entirely in green. Green is usually an accent color, but here it became the lead, layered from deep emerald to soft moss until a single color became the whole story. Working within one palette is a discipline, and that restraint was the point: it cleared the way for texture to carry the weight of the design, and for the occasional pop of another color to register all the more.
The focal point (and the talk of the night) was a custom-fabricated, semi-circular upholstered bar. Mina's family owns a rug company, so when the idea surfaced to build a bar from one of the authentic Persian rugs in their inventory, no one could resist. The result was a richly patterned, tactile centerpiece that anchored a contemporary room in something inherited and real.
The night honored two families and two histories without ever feeling like a compromise. It spoke to the older generations who carry the heritage, and to the younger ones who prize its authenticity and the sense of belonging it offers. When we build worlds that bring cultures together, we finish the work with a deep sense of honor, having let design carry the kind of love that crosses borders. That always feels like something very special.
